Do you struggle to find the right words to express yourself when you most need it? #3rd technique.
Do you struggle to find the right words to express yourself when you most need it?
Finding the words that you need at the moment you need them is the struggle of every language learner.
I hope you managed to try the first two techniques I posted the past couple of days. Today I will tell you about another technique to help you increase your vocabulary.
Again remember, we all learn in different ways, so each different technique is for you to try and see which ones work best for you.
**** Third Technique: ****
– Study prefixes (ex: un, il, in, ir) and suffixes (ble, ty, al)
Another trick to significantly expand your vocab is to study common prefixes and suffixes in the target language
Prefixes are the letters we add at the beginning of a word that can shift the meaning of the word slightly or change it completely.
Ex: miss —> dismiss
Suffixes are the letters added at the end of a word that can change the meaning again or give it a slightly different meaning.
Ex: Transport —>transportation
Each prefix and suffix you learn opens the door to hundreds of new words, yielding a huge return on your investment in your vocabulary building.
